“And the leaves of the trees will be for the healing of the nations.”

My wife and I both got tattoos together on the same day – she’d been trying to talk me into it for about six months, but when I was growing up, my mum told us off if we wrote on the back of our hands in biro, so I it took some convincing to get me to do it. We’d both been through some difficult circumstances right before getting them, and so both of our designs say something about hope. Mine says (in Greek) “And the leaves of the trees will be for the healing of the nations.” It’s from a Bible verse found in the book of Revelation, describing what heaven will be like. The passage says that there will be a great city with a river flowing out of it, and trees growing on either side of the river, and “the leaves of the tree will be for the healing of the nations.” It’s a reminder to me that there is always hope, and that God will one day make all things right.
